About the fund
Nick D'Angelo
(LCHS '80, JCU '84)
Nick D'Angelo (Lake Catholic ’80, John Carroll University ’84) was a three-year varsity football letterman and a captain his senior season at Lake Catholic High School. He went on to John Carroll where he was a four-year letterman in both football and wrestling. Nick was also an outstanding student, making Academic All-American status his senior year. After being a scholar athlete at both Lake Catholic High School and John Carroll University, he went on to be an attorney in Northeast Ohio for nearly 40 years, giving his all to help each client achieve their desired ends. His most cherished role, however, was as loving father to his two children, Alex, and Carri.
Sadly, Nick passed away on April 23, 2022, at the age of 60. Nick was loved and cherished by so many friends, including those at Lake Catholic and John Carroll University, and of course his family - his mother (Alice), kids (Alex and Carri), brother (Sal), aunt (Amelita), and his family.
Nick’s passion and intensity to succeed in the classroom, in athletics, and in life serve as an inspiration to all that knew him. His personality and sense of humor were both unique and unforgettable. The Nick D’Angelo Fund and Scholarship will commemorate the life and memory of Nick, honoring his legacy and supporting his passion for lifetime learning and other causes that he cared about. Those causes include financial assistance to qualifying students attending Lake Catholic High School and John Carroll University.
The Nick D'Angelo Fund
The Nick D’Angelo Fund was established in 2022. The Fund is administered through the Cleveland Foundation (TCF). Our partnership with TCF provides our fund with 501(c)(3) status, making donations tax deductible and qualifying the funds to receive employer matching gifts.
The Nick D'Angelo SCHOLARSHIP
The Nick D'Angelo Scholarship was created in 2023 and is administered through John Carroll University. Our partnership with JCU provides our fund with 501(c)(3) status, making donations tax deductible and qualifying the funds to receive employer matching gifts.
The cleveland foundation
The Cleveland Foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of all residents of Greater Cleveland, now and for generations to come, by working together with donors to build community endowment, address needs through grantmaking, and provide leadership on key community issues.
